What allows you to perform well & stay healthy?
They say 3rd time is the charm right? And you all know I love triathlons, right? Well my 1st triathlon this year was a DNS – did not start – even though I was registered for it, my husband was out of town so I skipped it and stayed home with my son. My 2nd triathlon of the year was the middle of June, as I headed back to California for the Escape to Alcatraz triathlon. Yes, I loved it so much last year that I headed back out there this year!
It was a cold windy day, and as we sat on the boat getting ready to boat out to Alcatraz Island (and swim back in), the race director made an announcement and said that the Coast Guard did not feel like it was safe, the 30-mph winds were blowing the kayakers and paddle boarders all around, and if the support/rescue crew could not handle the water, they didn’t want us to swim. And thus, the swim was cancelled, and we all had to get off the boat. People were in tears, people were ticked off, and some were even relieved. We took the busses back to the main transition area, and were able to bike and run, but it still was not the same. So my 2nd triathlon of the year became a duathlon.
Last weekend, here in Acworth, was my 3rd triathlon of the year (or at least my 3rd attempt at one!). After a week of rain, it was the perfect day for a race. I finished 2nd place in my age group, behind a friend of mine, which is always extra nice. So what’s next? Peachtree Road Race on July 4th, another triathlon in August, and then a 25k trail race in the fall (yikes!). Why do I do these you may wonder? Why not? I love these races, I love being able to compete, I love the feeling that comes with it, I love the friends I have from racing, I love being in shape, and so much more. I feel so lucky that I can race and have fun.
I have been doing triathlons & running races for 30 years and know that chiropractic care is what allows me to perform well and stay healthy. Getting adjusted 2-3x per month allows my nervous system to work at its best, resulting in a balanced pelvis, less low back pain, less knee pain, better overall function & optimal performance. I’m so grateful that I can continue to compete in these events after all these years. I truly know that if I weren’t getting adjusted, I wouldn’t be able to do this, or at least not as well.
If you are an athlete, you especially need to include chiropractic care as part of your plan. And if you aren’t into running or triathlons, you still need a chiropractor, everyone needs to know at least one. Let us know if we can help you.
