How do you NOT get sick?
Why is it that time just seems to go by faster & faster as we age? Somehow it’s already the fall, and September just flew by. I went to two Braves games (both against the Red Sox of course); I flew to Boston for my high school reunion; I went to South Carolina; ran a race; adjusted a bunch of people and dogs, and the other “normal” lifetime things. It seems it’s always go, go, go – so during times like these are the times that I really have to focus on my health.
A sure fire way for me to get sick is to not get sleep, so I always try to pay attention to getting enough sleep. For me, that is 7-8 hours every night, though there certainly are nights that I get less sleep (like 6 hours or so). Did you know that sleep is a very important part of a healthy lifestyle? Many people I know say they can get by on little sleep, and while their body may get use to that, it certainly isn’t good. Sleep is when our body heals and repairs itself. Sleep rejuvenates us. Sleep helps decrease stress. Sleep helps us look and feel better. It clears our mind.
Another way I focus on my health is proper nutrition. Eating well is very important to staying healthy (and to weight loss), and I really think that most people have no idea how critical food is to our health. Many disease processes are from poor eating habits. Food can help us heal. There are times that I do not eat the way I should, sometimes that busy lifestyle involves eating on the run, which isn’t always good. I feel that if I limit those times to a few times a month (versus a few times a week), then that’s okay and somewhat realistic in this day and age.
I also take a bunch of supplements. Juice Plus, Nordic Naturals Pro Omega + D (Fish Oil), Immuplex by Standard Process, Tissue Rejuvenator by Hammer Nutrition and Klaire Probiotics are my favorites … so much that I take them EVERY day. Not occasionally, but every day. There are a few others that I take here & there, but those five I take on a regular basis (and I have no plans of changing that). As you can see, it’s not all the same brand of supplements, it’s what I feel are the best products for each need. Juice Plus is my standard daily whole food supplement (the “green, red & purple”) and is the one I’ve been on the longest. Immuplex is my new favorite and also very important to me staying healthy.
And the last important component to me staying healthy is getting adjusted. I have been under regular consistent chiropractic care for 23+ years now, and know that a properly functioning nervous system will help my immune system work even that much better, which helps keep me healthy.
What about you? What are your keys to staying healthy? Hopefully you are getting adjusted on a regular basis, and getting proper sleep and eating well. They are all very important in creating the healthy person you deserve to be.
