A one-time adventure or not?
Have you ever done something crazy yet fun, while thinking it was a one-time adventure? And then decide you want to do it again? Well that has just happened to me, and as a result, I jumped into Lake Allatoona two weeks ago, when the water was 55-degrees, and I went for a one-mile swim. But that’s not where it ends…since I went ahead and signed up for Escape From Alcatraz triathlon this summer (again). I raced it in 2016 and had so much fun that I’ve decided to do it again! And now it’s hurry up and get in shape time.
The past five months I have really backed off on working out, partially due to an achy knee, but mostly due to needing time to study as I took the animal chiropractic program. My workouts were put on hold, which kind of made me crazy, but I knew it was a temporary thing. Now that I’ve graduated the program, it was time to focus a little more on working out, and trying to figure out how to get in shape for a race that is just a few months away. Hurry up and get in shape I say. So swimming in really cold lake was very good mental preparation, and a boost of confidence. After all, San Francisco bay most likely will be in the mid-50’s, so I want to be ready for that kind of cold.
I’m also signed up for a triathlon in mid April, am signed up for the Peachtree road race, then possibly will be heading to Omaha in August for another triathlon. After that, I’m not sure what I’ll be doing. I want to spend more time riding horses and adjusting animals, which all takes up a chunk of time, so I will have to figure out how to make it all work. That is the next goal of mine – creating a better plan of action for all of this. Can I add more hours to my day?
Through this all, I still get adjusted every week, sometimes every other week. Getting adjusted is critical in my mind, to staying healthy and injury free. I have to take care of my body, so I can take care of others. What about you? How often do you get adjusted? Do you have goals and plans, or are you going through life just hoping things fall into place? Do you hope to stay healthy and injury free, or are you doing things to make that happen? Keep chiropractic care high up on your priority list, and most likely, you will be healthier and able to perform your daily activities better.
