Cold Laser Technology
Recently we had a long distance runner come to our office who was experiencing Achilles Tendonitis that hadn’t resolved with traditional medical treatment. He was unable to run because of the pain and you could barely even touch his achilles without him jumping out in pain. After about a month of care, which included adjustments to his sacrum and lumbar spine that helped remove nerve interference and balance everything out, we also used the cold laser technology on him….and I’m happy to report he is pain free. I love that machine, it’s a great piece of equipment that aids in the healing of soft tissue — basically muscle, ligament, skin & nerve. It’s great for burns, muscle pulls & tears, aches & pain, and all over healing. Of course like anything, there’s never a guarantee and it doesn’t work on everyone and everything, but when people get great results and can walk without pain, that is a great thing.
As a runner myself, when heaving in long distance training, I love using the cold laser pad on my hamstring muscles, which get tight with long runs. We’ve also used it on people with carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fascists, cuts and scrapes, fractures, TMJ pain, and other injuries.
Pretty soon our long distance runner will be able to get out there and run again, something he has missed for some time. Today one of our patients ran the Chicago Marathon, her first ever marathon. Last week we had a patient run her first ever half marathon. Coming up in a few weeks is the Savannah Half Marathon & Marathon, in which some of our patients are running as well. And the list goes on.
I love being a chiropractor and taking care of athletes, and can always relate really well to runners. I’ve been there, I do the long runs, I understand the pain patterns and what people go through. Adding chiropractic to your training plan can make a huge difference in getting you there to the starting line healthy and injury free. If you are an athlete of any sort, a beginner, a weekend warrior, a serious triathlete or runner, make sure chiropractic care is included as part of your training plan.
