Rollercoasters & Bumper Cars
If you have ever been on a rollercoaster, bumper cars, trampoline or bounce house, keep reading. If you are a parent of a child who has ever been on a rollercoaster, bumper cars, trampoline, or bounce house, keep reading. If you fit in one or both of the first two sentences, do you know that is a mild form of whiplash and when gone uncorrected, can cause spinal problems (either now or down the road). If so, when was your last visit to a chiropractor?
In the past 24 hours, I took my 3 ½ year old son on both cheap bumper cars and then a bounce house – you know, one of those inflatable jumpy things seen at festivals and parties. He had a great time, and of course I am thankful that I am a chiropractor who can take care of him. You see – that is minor neck bouncing back and forth, over and over and over again.
New patients often come into our office who say they’ve never had an accident, never fallen, never had any trauma to their neck. What they don’t realize is that the period of growing up, being a child and experiencing all the fun things there are to do in life, is what is called micro trauma, and can lead to “straight” necks. What follows is anything from nothing (yes, NO symptoms), to tight shoulders, headaches, neck pain, finger numbness, sinus congestion, allergies, etc. Spinal problems affect the nervous system and since the nervous system is what controls everything in the body, then everything can be affected.
No, chiropractic is not a cure to those things, except to spinal subluxations and nerve interference. When you correct the problem, symptoms tend to go away and health is maximized. How do you know if you have maximum health? You don’t really, yet I just know I want my body to perform and function as best as possible, and chiropractic can help that.
If you are a parent who gets adjusted but leaves their child at home, why do you do that? Why wait until they are older when it takes longer and costs more to help them? We love our children and want the best for them, so why not get their spine checked? We see lots of children in office, all whose parents understand the importance of a healthy spine and trust us in taking care of them.
For those who just aren’t sure about chiropractic for kids, watch your child the next time they are jumping in a bounce house, or sliding into 2nd base, getting pushed on the ground, falling, whatever it may be that children go through. Let us check their spine. Don’t let them watch you get adjusted and then leave. They deserve chiropractic care as well. Spinal problems don’t start when you are an adult, they start early on – please keep that in mind. We are experts in pediatric chiropractic care. Ask us about it sometime.
