When does healthy eating begin?
I don’t think it is so much genetics that causes health problems, as much as it is the habits taught to us by our parents. I really don’t see many children who are overweight if their parents eat healthy (and are ultimately not overweight), however I do see overweight kids who have overweight parents. The kids follow the habits of the parents and then by the time they are adults, they have a huge challenge of changing lifelong habits if they want to eat healthier and lose weight.
Eating healthy is not easy, but it is not hard. It requires planning, buying groceries and having healthy snacks around. Recently this video popped up on the internet and is a great piece on how our eating habits start at a very young age. What are you teaching your children? What healthy habits (or unhealthy habits) do you have that you are passing on? These are things you should consider as you go through life. Don’t make excuses. Good health is not about good luck or good genes, it’s about the decisions you make every day and every week. Remember that.
