The Power of Thought
He was one of the first authors who really taught me about the power of self-belief, positive thought and affirmations. I was lucky enough to hear him speak at two chiropractic seminars, as he was a fan of getting adjusted and understood that the body has an amazing ability to heal, utilizing prayer, meditation, positive thought, proper nutrition and chiropractic care. In this month “Pathways To Family Wellness” magazine he has an article called “What Do You Want For Your Children?” You may have heard on the news that just yesterday the world lost an amazing speaker, author & human being in Wayne Dyer.
For years I have understood that your thoughts create your reality. What you think about and dwell on usually comes true. When you focus on negativity, you get negative results. When you focus on positive outcomes, then that is what you get. When I have a race approaching, for months I will visualize the outcome, ranging from perfect weather to the time goal that I want. I do this as well in my office, focusing on getting great results with patients, having a happy & healing office, and many other positive things.
Lately however I have fallen a bit off track, and maybe this is a good reminder to get back at it. I use to get out of bed 30 minutes early, spend time reading my goals, writing them out, visualizing what I wanted and saying positive affirmations. Then I got a cute little golden retriever puppy, and doing all that quiet work early in the morning became a challenge with a puppy running around. Soon after that I became a mom, and my morning routine changed again. My morning routine was no longer there, and I became very inconsistent with my goals, visualization and affirmations.
Recently I’ve had a few challenges in my life, and rather than focus on the challenge part of it, I’ve decided to focus on the positive end. What do I want? How can I make that happen? How can I reverse things to make it what I want? If you’ve ever read Wayne Dyer’s books, he can teach you some of these ways.
If you are someone who has a morning routine that includes affirmations, visualization, goals, and/or prayer, then that is great. If you aren’t, do you think you could add that into your life? Maybe practice those things early in the morning instead of checking email? How would that change your life?
I know it has changed my life in the past, and I look forward to getting myself back on a routine and changing my future. If you need some motivation or need some books to read, I will list my favorite ones below (with links!). Take a look at them, invest in them and invest in your life.
Thank you Wayne Dyer for all you did for our world. RIP.
